April 24, 2026 Protecting Freight Starts with Carrier Vetting

Freight theft and fraud continue to rise across the transportation industry. As supply chains grow more complex, choosing the right logistics partner isn’t just important—it’s critical.

At Corporate Traffic, protecting our customers’ freight begins long before pickup. It starts with a rigorous, hands-on carrier vetting process designed to minimize risk and ensure reliability at every step.

We believe every load deserves a trusted carrier behind it. That’s why our Carrier Compliance team manually reviews and continuously monitors carriers to ensure they meet our strict standards. This includes ongoing evaluation of approved partners and thorough screening of all new carriers before they’re added to our network.

Our Carrier Approval Standards

Before a carrier is approved to move freight with us, they must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of continuous active DOT authority
  • At least 3 DOT roadside inspections
  • Safety rating of Satisfactory or None
  • Authority in good standing with no pending revocation
  • Auto insurance: $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate
  • Cargo insurance: Minimum $100,000
  • Verified insurance certificates through trusted partners such as RMIS and AssureAssist
  • Review of suspicious or high-risk business addresses (PO boxes, apartments, ship stations)
  • Consideration of broker and customer reviews, when available
  • Minimum 3-truck fleet for dry van and flatbed carriers

Why Daily Monitoring Matters

Carrier compliance isn’t a one-time checkpoint—it’s an ongoing commitment.

Even our trusted, repeat carriers are continuously monitored to ensure they maintain compliance. This proactive approach helps reduce fraud, mitigate risk, and deliver consistent, reliable service.

We also implement secure rate confirmation delivery with multi-factor authentication, adding another layer of protection throughout the booking process.

A Commitment to Security

“Freight fraud, like any crime, is constantly evolving, which means our prevention efforts must evolve as well,” said Brian Kowalski, Manager of Legal and Compliance at Corporate Traffic. “By combining strict vetting standards, daily monitoring and more secure technology, we give our customers confidence in where their freight is at any time – from pickup to delivery and everywhere in between. Peace of mind begins with challenging the status quo, and that’s exactly what we do at Corporate Traffic.”
