Tell us about your journey in sports. How did you first get involved, and what has kept you passionate about it?
I got involved in tennis when I was five years old as I had friends already taking tennis lessons, and I enjoyed watching them play. I have remained extremely passionate about the sport since I started because tennis is a constant challenge. Every day is a new chance to improve and regardless of the thousands of hours I have put in I still find myself learning more about the game and myself. Tennis has also blessed me by providing me with the opportunity to travel the world which has contributed a great amount to my growth as a person off the court.
What’s your favorite thing about your sport? Why?
My favorite thing about tennis is that you are alone on the court and therefore responsible for everything that you do. I think this is great as you have no one to blame and must learn to take accountability. With that being said, college tennis is even better as you are still alone on your individual court, but you have a team around you who constantly supports you. College tennis does a great job of turning an individual sport into a team sport while still maintaining the great aspects of tennis that is still individual.
Why did you decide to play at UNF?
I chose UNF because of the incredible culture that the coach who recruited me told me about. The beautiful campus, location, and weather were other factors as well.
How has being a part of your university’s community impacted your overall college experience?
In the most positive way possible. I have met some incredible people at UNF who I have learned so much from and made the best memories with. Playing sports for a university with a community like UNF is so easy and enjoyable.
What’s your favorite sports memory or achievement so far?
Winning the 2024 ASUN Conference and qualifying for NCAA’s.
In what ways do you see your scholarship impacting your personal and professional growth?
This scholarship impacts my personal and professional growth by allowing me to be at UNF without worrying about the finances as an international student as much. Without that worry, I can truly focus on my degree, sports, and relationships which benefit my personal and professional life in so many ways.
What are your aspirations after completing your education and athletic career at UNF?
I would love to play professional tennis after college for a couple of years and then transition into the accounting world with my degree from UNF.
If you could offer advice to other aspiring student-athletes, what would it be?
My biggest advice would be to work hard both academically and in your sport as the number of opportunities being a student-athlete provides for your future is truly something special and something I am extremely grateful for.
