Behind every smooth shipment and well-managed supply chain, there’s a group of interns gaining valuable experience. Their journey is about exploring supply management intricacies, tackling real-world problems, and making meaningful contributions to Corporate Traffic Logistics’ success. At CT, internships are more than just stepping stones—they’re transformative learning experiences that pave the way for future careers in one of the world’s most dynamic industries.
Whether exploring our assets at Corporate Transportation or working one-on-one with our logistics experts, our interns aren’t just watching from the sidelines—they’re essential team members. These students not only learn the ins and outs of the trade but also bring fresh energy to existing processes, challenging norms and driving growth. We sat down with our internship director and a couple of our interns to discuss their experience this summer.
Meet Madison, our Human Resources Administrator:
“Leading our internship program has been a very rewarding experience. I have had a wonderful time getting to know, connect and guide these students, understanding that our program goes beyond just offering a summer job. It’s about mentorship, introducing them to the vast opportunities in the corporate world and helping them chart their career paths.
Our internship program focuses on freight brokerage throughout the summer, supplemented by weekly workshops that dive into various departments and highlight essential traits like leadership, financial literacy, and time management.
At CT, we pride ourselves on being a family-owned and operated company and fostering a deeply collaborative “work hard, play hard” culture. Our hands-on approach ensures they gain a comprehensive understanding of freight brokerage, mirroring the responsibilities of our full-time employees. We seek interns who embody our ethos of relentless pursuit and who are eager to embrace our “never-settle” mindset.
Our internship structure ensures interns actively participate in the day-to-day operations, preparing them for future challenges in their careers. There are also opportunities for full-time positions upon completion of the internship program that we encourage each student to consider. It’s a program designed not just to educate, but to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders in the industry.”
Meet Katie, our social media and marketing intern who is studying sports and media journalism at the University of Florida:
“Going into my senior year at the University of Florida, I wanted to find an internship that would push me out of my comfort zone of the sports world. I came across this opportunity at CT and the second I stepped foot inside the office for my in-person interview, I knew that this was the place I wanted to spend the summer!
In today’s interconnected world, the logistics industry plays a pivotal role in ensuring goods and services reach their destinations efficiently. I saw how fast-paced and intense the workdays were for the brokers and managers on the floor, but I also learned that the role of social media and marketing is equally crucial in communicating the company’s brand, values, and services to the world. Logistics is all about reputation and relationships and that is why having a strong digital presence is important for us!
It has been so interesting to learn about each of the shipping modes that CT offers, from the dry vans that you see behind semi-trucks on the highway to our drayage services to and from different US ports, including our asset terminal located right here in Jacksonville!
Throughout my time at CT, I’ve learned more than just the technical aspects of social media and marketing. I’ve learned about the importance of adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Logistics, by nature, requires you to stay responsive to changes in the market and client needs. This lesson in adaptability will undoubtedly serve me well in my future career endeavors.
Additionally, I’ve learned the power of effective communication and teamwork. Whether it’s working cross-functionally with different departments or communicating our brand’s message through social media channels, collaboration has been key to achieving my goals.
Something that sets CT apart from many other companies is the environment. Since I started at the beginning of May, I have felt valued, supported, and empowered to grow both personally and professionally. Whether it’s through company outings to The Yards, ongoing learning opportunities, “Food Truck Wednesdays,” or simply playing ping pong after lunch, every day brought new challenges and experiences.
I’m excited to take what I’ve learned – from creating content to understanding the industry in general – and apply it in my final year at UF. The encouragement and mentorship I’ve received from everyone at Corporate Traffic Logistics have been instrumental in shaping my professional growth, and I encourage anyone considering an internship or full-time job at CT to apply!
If this summer has taught me anything, it is to take the initiative, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone!”
Meet Spicer, one of our logistics operations interns who is studying logistics and transportation at the University of North Florida:
“It all started when I was looking for somewhere to intern to start my career in logistics. I knew how important it was to get experience and I was very glad to find Corporate Traffic at the UNF career fair, where I also found out about their internship program. I decided to apply and ended up getting it!
On my first day, the process was nothing out of the ordinary when it came to orientation and learning all the company’s standards. It was cool to be surrounded by other interns who were just starting out in this industry as well because we all went through the learning process together. While there was a lot of information being thrown at me at times, I was lucky enough to have a good team around me helping me whenever I needed it.”
