May 8, 2026 DOT Blitz Week 2026: What Shippers Should Know

Each year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) conducts its annual DOT Blitz Week – a nationwide safety enforcement initiative focused on commercial vehicle inspections and driver compliance across North America.

During this period, roadside inspections and enforcement activity increase significantly, often impacting carrier capacity, transit times, and overall freight movement throughout the industry.

At Corporate Traffic Logistics, we take DOT Blitz Week seriously and proactively prepare to help our customers avoid unnecessary service disruptions.

What Is DOT Blitz Week?

DOT Blitz Week is designed to promote roadway safety by increasing inspections on commercial vehicles and drivers. Inspectors focus on areas such as:

  • Driver qualifications and Hours of Service compliance
  • Vehicle maintenance and equipment safety
  • Brake systems, tires, lighting, and securement
  • Overall carrier compliance and operating authority

While many inspections are completed quickly, some trucks may be delayed or placed out of service if violations are identified.

How DOT Blitz Week Impacts Freight

Because enforcement activity increases nationwide, the transportation industry may experience:

  • Longer wait times at weigh stations and inspection points
  • Reduced available truck capacity
  • Potential pickup and delivery delays
  • Increased pressure on non-compliant carriers

For shippers, working with reliable and safety-focused logistics partners becomes especially important during this week.

How Corporate Traffic Is Preparing

At Corporate Traffic Logistics, safety and compliance are priorities year-round – not just during DOT Blitz Week.

To help protect our customers from service interruptions, our team is taking additional precautions, including:

  • Prioritizing Compliant Carriers: We are working only with carriers that maintain clean inspection histories, strong safety scores, and active compliance monitoring.
  • Pre-Screening Carrier Safety Records: Before dispatch, our operations team is proactively reviewing carrier inspection and safety performance to reduce the risk of delays or out-of-service issues.
  • Assigning Backup Driver Coverage: Whenever possible, we are assigning backup driver coverage on orders during DOT Blitz Week to help ensure service continuity if inspection-related delays occur.
  • Monitoring Freight Activity in Real Time: Our team will be actively monitoring transit activity, enforcement trends, and shipment status throughout the week to keep customers informed and freight moving efficiently.

Our Commitment to Customers

DOT Blitz Week serves as an important reminder that safety and compliance matter in every shipment.

“As we approach Blitz Week, it’s important that we remain vigilant when vetting our carriers in order to safeguard and protect our customers’ cargo from the time of tendering through the signing of the POD, and every step in between,” said Brian Kowalski, Manager of Legal and Compliance.

At Corporate Traffic Logistics, we remain committed to providing dependable service while partnering with carriers that meet the highest operational and safety standards.

When enforcement increases, preparation matters – and our team is prepared.
