July 18, 2024 Corporate Traffic sends 10-year-old Waylen to Houston to meet the Astros

For the third consecutive year, Corporate Traffic sponsored a child to send them on their dream trip through Dreams Come True, a Jacksonville-based non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses. Since its establishment in 1984, the organization has worked to provide memorable and meaningful experiences for children and their families, offering a sense of joy and normalcy amid the challenges of serious illness.

Our dreamer this summer, Waylen, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia when he was 3 years old and has been cancer free for five years. He is now a healthy 10-year-old who loves baseball.

Throughout the summer, CT employees signed up for our companywide “CT Olympics” to raise money for Waylen’s dream reveal party and vacation. We had over 35 employees compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in events such as ping pong, cornhole, pool, bocce, long putt, shuffleboard and more!

With the support of our amazing employees, we were able to raise a substantial amount of money to send Waylen and his family to Texas to see a three-game series for the Houston Astros vs. LA Dodgers – and even attend batting practice with the team before one of the games! We presented his dream to him in our office, where we also gave him a backpack full of trading cards, Astros apparel, signed game balls and a hand-painted bat by our Recruitment Program Manager, Matthew Barnes.

We are honored to be able to support such a great organization and will continue to participate in several annual events such as its Holiday Family Adoption Program, the Trunk or Treat October event and the Dreams Come True 5k.
