July 31, 2025 Interning with Impact: How Anna and Leighton Thrive in a Traditionally Male-Dominated Industry

Each semester, Corporate Traffic welcomes a new class of interns to join in on the excitement of the logistics industry. These interns gain valuable experience by working directly with their managers to get hands-on experience with booking loads, calling drivers, moving freight and playing a vital role in our company’s success.

There are a variety of internship roles offered at Corporate Traffic including logistics operations, marketing and social media and human resources. These multifaceted roles in different departments provide these students with skills needed to flourish in this booming business and pave the way for a successful career.

While the logistics and supply chain industry has been traditionally male-dominated, we have numerous women on our team who have achieved a high level of success in sales and operations. In addition to several women in executive leadership roles we also have, Victoria Randolph, LTL Lead of Sales Operations, and Abbey Vitek, Senior Logistics Solutions Engineer, who have both recently advanced to key positions at CT.

We look forward to continuing to offer a great option for women interested in a career in logistics. This summer, Corporate Traffic is proud to have two women be a part of our internship program. Here are some insights from their perspective on being women in logistics and their experience here at Corporate Traffic so far.

Anna, Human Resources Intern, Business Marketing and Real Estate Major, Florida State University:

“I have prior experience and knowledge in logistics from my internship last summer as an operational specialist at another company. Since I was exposed to the operational side of the business last summer, I wanted to learn the HR and recruiting side of logistics this summer.

I work alongside numerous women here at Corporate Traffic, specifically Madison Youngblood, Human Resources Administrator, and Tina-Marie Zolezzi, Director of Human Capital Management. They have both helped mentor me throughout my summer here at Corporate Traffic.

This internship has allowed me to gain soft skills like creativity, leadership and communication. I actively put these skills to use every day at work by creating different in-office activities, interviewing potential candidates and leading skill development presentations!”

Leighton, Social Media and Marketing Intern, Public Relations Major, The University of Florida:

Before this summer, I knew nothing about logistics — everything was a step outside my comfort zone. The biggest lesson I have learned about logistics is the importance of communication and trust. Every minute counts in this fast-paced business, which I find most interesting.

In the marketing department at Corporate Traffic, I work directly with Keith Lechwar, Manager of Marketing & Communications, and Katie Park, Marketing and Social Media Specialist. In my role, I have created content for the CT social media accounts, wrote blogs for the website and helped design fun events at the office to support local charities. All these hands-on tasks have allowed me to expand my skills I learn in the classroom and apply them to the real world.”

Taylor Johnson, Corporate Traffic’s Talent Development Specialist, adds some additional perspective as a full-time woman in logistics:

“Transitioning from education into logistics definitely came with some thoughts and expectations.

At first, I wondered if I’d have to prove myself more or if my background would be seen as a disadvantage. But I quickly realized that my experience in teaching—communicating clearly, managing multiple priorities and adapting on the fly—translates incredibly well into logistics.

I’ve learned that success in this field isn’t defined by gender—it’s driven by resilience, creativity and a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.”

We are proud of all the women on our team who show consistency and ambition day in and day out here at the office. The high levels of success of women in logistics is a testament to our “Never Settle” mindset.

Corporate Traffic recognizes logistics can be an overwhelming industry. This is why we take pride in our internship program and provide the stepping stones needed to have our team learn and feel prepared every day. We encourage anyone who is driven, communicative, and adaptable to be part of the team here at Corporate Traffic!
